We (Rekha, Sidhu and I) went on a recent road trip to Murudeshwar. I'll post some narrative on the trip and snaps from it some time soon. BTW, here's us...

This snap was taken on a previous trip in June 2006 to Wayanad in Kerala. We had to be at Tirunelli temple to fulfill an offering that Rekha had made. We made it a three day trip so we could visit other places of attraction in Wayanad. This was actually the first trip that we did after Sidhu was born in August 2005.
Wayanad was beautiful in monsoon glory. Well, some people might think of monsoon as not the best time to travel to Kerala, but I thought the whole trip was cool. Of course carry your umbrellas along since it just doesnt stop raining:-)
I learnt that Wayanad had (probably still has) a strong presence of Jainism. It was surprising at first, but then in hinder-sight, it turned out not to be so surpirising because southern Karnataka (Mangalore, Dharmastala etc) is known to have a strong Jain base. Wayanad is just south-west of Coorg. It is still surprising though that there are many Jain temples in Wayanad that are mostly ruined - except for the one or two odd ones in and around Manathavadi town (well, per my knowledge - maybe there are many more good ones). Our guide told us that the temples were runied during the raid of Tipu Sultan's marauding armies.
